What was the purpose of jazz being created? For example, the blues was made to express the sadness of the slaves. Also, does this mean that jazz can be converted into many feelings and genres, like blues for sadness and rock for excitement? Does it mean that jazz isn’t classified as one genre, but an idea that can plant the seed of other types of music?

Why does this piece of blues sound more happy and excited compared to the ones we are composing in class and other ones we have listened too? i thought it was meant to be sad as slaves expressed their feelings through composing blues music?

I did some research and I found out that this music was i fact very popular during the 2nd World War. Maybe this was the reason for the military beat.
